Software-intensive systems are those in which software is a dominant and essential element, both in their structure and as a transversal component across production stages, significantly impacting the planning, development, and evolution of these systems.
With the emergence and rise of increasingly larger and more complex systems, such as smart cities, cyber-physical systems, systems-of-systems, and software ecosystems, new research avenues are opened to enable the faithful modeling of these new systems, which are often highly dynamic and widely interact with their surrounding environment.
In this sense, it becomes imperative not only to advance the static modeling of software-intensive systems but also to progress in modeling their dynamic aspects. To achieve this, the use of dynamic software models, such as runtime models and simulation models, becomes essential. In this scenario, the VI Workshop on Modeling and Simulation of Software-Intensive Systems (VII MSSiS) aims to make its contribution.
Objectives of MSSiS
The main objective of this workshop is to foster discussions on software systems modeling in a broad spectrum. Other objectives include:
01
Outline the community working with simulations and executable models in the context of software engineering;
02
Provide an environment for discussing potential synergies between the modeling and simulation (M&S) paradigm, predominant in Systems Engineering, and Software Engineering;
03
Address research in Model-Driven Software Engineering, particularly concerning runtime models; and
04
Explore techniques, methods, and tools to support the faithful representation of software through models (whether simulation models, executable models, or not).
Finally, the intention is to enable simulators and interpreters of executable models to become support platforms for various stages of the software development process.
The MSSiS has been classified as QUALIS B4 and will take place alongside CBSoft.
